LicenseMusic.com was founded in 1996 in San Francisco and quickly became the default destination for the online licensing of pre-cleared library and production music.

In 2002 its current management acquired the business and merged it with their existing music licensing activities.

LicenseMusic is now both the foremost online music licensing service for pre-cleared music, representing a library of some 20,000 tracks and a leading licensing agent that controls the landmark Charly Records catalog of over 100,000 major artist master recordings .

In addition to offering its library content online, the merged business also licenses its deep catalog bank (offline) to major record companies and independent labels for compilation and special products use and to Film and TV companies and advertising agencies for synchronisation. The company also releases Charly branded products for retail distribution via its established world-wide licensee network.

Over the last twelve months, the new management has undertaken a complete review of LicenseMusic’s operating systems, site design and navigation and back office functions and has rationalised and added new content to the pre-cleared Library, in preparation for the forthcoming release of LicenseMusic version 3 (LM3).

the opportunity to negotiate for and license major artist recordings and new releases online.
